Welcome to another of my shuffle reviews, wherein I put my iPod/iTunes on shuffle and reviewing the first song that comes up! Today, without further ado, I'll be reviewing Around the Corner of Your Eye by the A*Teens!
I really like the sound of this song! It's a really sweet, poppy Y2K-era slow song, with a nice, ballad-y melody---I could see this song being some traditional English lullaby in another universe. It's a very solid slow track! The only thing is that I haven't the foggiest idea what the song is supposed to be about. The lyrics gave me the image of a dead loved one speaking to one they left behind, but the second verse seems to put that idea to rest. I also thought initially of some creepy, stalky lover, but the members were young teenagers when they sang this, so I don't really know. That's the likeliest idea, methinks, but not very likely. If anyone can figure this song's meaning out, please tell me! Otherwise, this song is good, if a bit nonsensical. 3.5 teens out of 5!
