So, you want to know about my job? Well, I currently have a summer job since summer of 2024 as a cashier at a local supermarket in my hometown. I obviously won't name it here for privacy reasons, though. I swear I'm not just saying this out of fear of recourse should upper management ever find my site, but I do like the job for the most part. Sometimes standing on my feet for eight hours can be tiring (did you know that in the UK grocery store cashiers get not just stools, but the super cushy padded office chairs?!?), and whenever whoever picks what lanes people work on sticks me on one of the lanes way down at the end far (away from all my friends) I feel a bit lonesome, but it's overall a great job.
I've made some good friends (including one of my best friends, Red, as I call her on the site), I've got some good savings going, it's a pretty healthy work environment and I even met my boyfriend Grey there. :) I checked him out once and I made some dorky smalltalk, and I guess he was the one checking me out, because he developed a crush on me and ended up asking me out shortly thereafter! I was insanely shocked when he asked me that (Lizzie.exe shut down for about 20 seconds) but I said yes and the rest is history. :)
So yeah, overall my job is pretty good! Especially because of all the special people I've met there. I don't think a girl could ask for a better first job. Actually, sometimes it feels a bit like a TV show. My life has started to center around it a bit, like how the characters on The Office always have their packages delivered to the office and always date people they meet through the office and their best friends are always in the office. I mean, my boyfriend was a customer, one of my best friends is a coworker, and I have a bunch of other friends there, and my non-work friends sometimes will come in to visit me on my shift. Sometimes I feel like I live in a much more boring episode of Superstore. Someone should make a TV show about a neighbourhood grocery store, called "Grocer" or something.
