Terror and Teeth!! (Mwahaha)

Song of the day: Momoiro Clover - Hashire!

Happy Halloween! (Mwa-ha-ha!)

So, are y'all feeling spooky yet? Today I'm wearing my Halloween costume, which is a white sweater and pink jeans as my wintry-weather version of Gee by Girls' Generation (voilĂ  the OG outfits below, and I might add a pic of my costume later). I think it's pretty cute! Although a little lower-effort than my past costumes, such as the Titanic, because I didn't have any huge idea this year and I kind of left it until the last minute. But nonetheless, I really like it! And so Gee has been stuck in my head all day. But I've been rather outshined---Pink's dressed up as Anna Wintour, with even a wig and heels! So mine is kind of underwhelming, and I doubt most people even know mine is a costume---but y'all do now!

Anyways, I'm sitting in Latin right now (blogger's note: now I'm in history), which I got to miss yesterday for a dentist's appointment! The sealant on a filling fell off, so I had to get the filling redone somewhat. I got to leave history early as well, and wait in the cold for my dad for a moment before I saw his car waiting. Anyways, afterwards, we got Culver's for lunch and I got a huge lemonade! I did have a bit of a scare later, in French class, when I thought my filling fell out and stuck to my gums, but looking back it wasn't hard or anything, and was probably just a little bit of plaque they got rid of or something.

Everything went well and I got some good lunch, so by all means it was a pretty good day!. We had to have a "house meeting" during homeroom yesterday, and I got lightly mocked by a disgruntled Green because I don't have Google Docs or a Web browser on my iPhone, and I got kind of stressed out/exhausted by searching for scholarships, like I'm kind of exhausted right now after searching for sources for my history essay. Oy---and I have homework tonight!

But D&D was cancelled due to Halloween, so at least I have more time to do my homework, which is some Latin reading and working on my two essays. I basically just have to get one more source for history, and Latin shouldn't take too long (because, hint hint, I don't try terriblyhard in Latin, or at least as much out teacher wants us to with his 45-minutes-a-night expectaion) so really it's mostly working on my English essay, which should be fun, since I get to talk about Jane Eyre! But I am quite tired---I don't want to go to Performing Arts right now. But now I must leave---toodles!

The Great Smoking Calculator

Song of the day: Riize - Memories

AAH!! I'm so sorry I haven't updated the blog for so long! I've been busy and, to be honest, procrastinating a little as well. But I'm back! I still do have most of a month until my autumn break, but this week went by fast and so I imagine I'll be there before I know it. Which, to be honest, is really freaky in the grand scheme of things. Anyways, this week's had some interesting happenings, and some... interesting happenings. Firstly, Thursday night I was stressing over a Latin quiz over about 25 lines of The Aeneid, after we'd never had a quiz before in that class. And so, when I come into class the next day, I've studied so much (by my senior year standards, at least) and prepared as much as I could, and I think I'm pretty prepared for the quiz. And then we spent twenty minutes trying to hook up a projector and the rest of class watching a video by Overly Sarcastic Productions, with few digressions, which I was glad about. Fun yet anticlimactic.

Green was sick for a few days, Blue made some (very delicious!!!) pumpkin bread and banana bread, Pink's calculator got set alight, and yesterday ravioli was for lunch. (record scratch) Right, for some reason some freshmen thought it would be a good idea to take a $100+ TI-84 that was laying around the student lounge and put it in the student lounge microwave. Long story short, it started smoking, the microwave got taken away (and probably destroyed---the second microwave that's been destroyed in our school in the past few years), the administration got so ticked off they might actually be harsh for once, and the perpetrators are going to pay for the new calculator. So it's been an eventful few days.

Anyways, I've already finished all my homework for this weekend except working on my English paper. We just finished Wuthering Heights, and so I'm doing an essay about religion and morality in Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. (Helloooo, doctorate thesis territory!) I'm currently in the midst of writing a personal essay for my Articles page about just how much I love Jane Eyre, so I think you can imagine a) how excited I am to be writing about it, b) how gleefully mischevious I felt that I could work in Jane Eyre somehow, and c) how scared my teacher is that I'll go beyond the seven-page soft limit. >:)

And I know I'll work on it for hours or something when I get started but I just haven't been able to compel myself yet to get started. I think I'll mainly just need to clean off the couch and get a-typing, but we'll see how far into the zone I can get. I'll probably have to stock up on snacks and water in my desk area before I start writing so I don't die of dehydration after ten straight days of binge-writing. (Netflix who?) But yeah, it's been cold and rainy this week, so ya girl's pretty dang happy. Right now, I've just cleaned the couch off, stocked up on provisions and opened the window, and now I'm ready to get some writing done whilst listening to the rain! I'll talk to all y'all later, toodles!

Interminability

Song of the day: Girls' Generation - Forever 1

Today's been a good day for the most part. I mostly spent the day faffing about playing Pokemon, Mario, etc., and had a very annoying moment trying to transfer Pokemon from Pokemon Go on my iPhone to Pokemon Shining Pearl. Pokemon Home refuses unilaterally to work on my cell phone, despite it not being that old and being well within the requirements (it requires iOS 12 and I have 15 or 16, I think 15), mainly because it won't show anything other than a white page when I try to sign in. And when I signed in elsewhere on my iPhone, which should've worked, it still gave me a sign-in error. So I had to transfer them through Pokemon Let's Go Eevee, but it took me ages to figure that out, and so I spent so much of my day on Pokemon.

Speaking of what else I spent my day on, my father and I went driving and I almost bumped into a curb when I tried to look at the sign of a school we were passing whilst exiting a roundabout. And then we got home towards dusk, and I wanted to go on a quick walk first, but my father made me do an hour of endless, interminable car tasks, and didn't give a hoot that I was growing agitated at my routine being disrupted. I mean, if I don't have my walk, it screws up the rest of my day! And I got taught more car crap at once than I'll be able to remember now, so it really wasn't any good. Ugh. Toodles.

A Lovely Day Indeed

Song of the day: Momoiro Clover - Hashire

Long time no blog! I've had a pretty busy week, and thus little free time, and thus I've been pretty emotionally tired and I was especially beat last night. But thus far today, I've been having fun and recuperating, and besides reading the last few chapters of Wuthering Heights for English and a couple other thingies I want to do, my weekend's totally free! Some highlights of the past few days: firstly, Wednesday afternoon, my mother and I took some more senior photos, this time in a sunflower field near my house. Some of them turned out quite well! And it was quite nice and cloudy---very fitting for my senior photos.

But not everything, of course, was totally dandy. Yesterday, we watched some videos in Latin because the teacher really couldn't and neither could the students, but then the teacher proceeded to take up, by my rough calculations, around three-quarters of the class with digressions and explaining one of the videos and the background behind it (it was a Roman history video) in almost comical detail, which was really frustrating for me since it was a video from one of my favourite YouTube channels. We got through another three or four-minute video, though we skipped some bits, and then four minutes of a twenty-six-minute video. In forty-two minutes. Oy.

Also, if y'all hadn't heard, Stampy's Lovely World ended today! That was my absolute favourite YouTube series as a kid, and Stampy and friends got me hooked on YouTube, so it was really sad. I'll try not to spoil it, but although it's not the finale of epic proportions I expected, and not how I personally would've done it, I still think it's quite lovely (Wocka wocka!) and has a good moral. It's the end of an era indeed! And although I do prefer the more straightforward let's play aspect of the early episodes, especially when all the helpers were real people rather than characters, it was still a quality series right till the end and Stampy should be very happy with all he's done over the years. That got me feeling quite nostalgic and a little melancholy this afternoon, but oh well.

I've been playing Pokemon Shining Pearl quite a bit more these past few days, and I really like it so far! I remember the lacklustre response back when BD&SP were first announced, but really, I think they're quite good. Also, my grannie gave me a little Vera Bradley hair accessory kit with a cute little sloth pattern---I love it! It has a pouch, a scrunchy, a head band and a bracelet thingy. Also, I had a double cheeseburger (from DQ specifically) for lunch today, something which I somehow don't remember ever having done before. Anyways, it was quite good! And today was lovely and cool outside, but not too cool, so I took a nice long walk. Today has really been a lovely day indeed. (Pun intended!) I'll talk to all y'all later!

Latin Hullabaloo: the Grand Finale!

Song of the day: GOT7 - Just Right

At long last, all this to-and-fro about Latin is over!! Friday, during parent-teacher conferences (oh, I mean student-led conferences), my Latin teacher told me and my parents about a "directive from on high" regarding Latin class that he would tell us about Monday. I had a pretty clear idea of what it was, considering the college counsellor had told us she had met with the principal to finally make Latin AP again, and our temporary transcripts (which I'm using to apply to uni!) say AP Latin on them instead of APILALLUS.

And lo, yesterday when we went to class, he told us that he had been given a talking-to unexpectedly and told that since we had signed up to take AP Latin, we bloody well had better be taught AP Latin, and that he should just make it fun, without any expectation of us acing the AP exam. (Because let's be real, what chance do we have at this point in the year?) And so we've started once more on reading Virgil (we already did the first half of AP, Caesar, last year) and he found a resource that has a few tears: tier 4, the real Latin, plus a grammatical version; tier 3, which is easier; and tier 2, which is baby's first Virgil. (There's no tier 1---would that just be English?) And of course, I still have trouble with half of tier 2, but oh well. It's better than doing sight-reading of the original text again!

And so Latin seems finally to be settled. And it had better be! This is our fifth curriculum change this year, and if he changes the format of the class again I'm going to bloody riot or something because I'm just so tired of it. He's a perfectly good teacher, and a kind person, but I'm sick of the changes. Oy.

Anyways, in other news, Sunday I went on a walk, with my trenchcoat over my pyjamas because I live life on the edge (read: it was Sunday and I was too lazy to change just for a walk), and I was on the trail not even ten minutes when some insect, probably a bee, came and stung me really hard, to where I felt a sharp pain in my leg (where it stung) and it got inflamed, and so I turned around, went home and put ice on it. Not fun! But other than that, I had a good weekend, with plenty of time to play Pokemon and Minecraft. Sadly, I've kind of been neglecting this site recently, because I have too many hobbies and not enough time, but I'm trying to do better!

Also, yesterday, I stopped at the Dollar Tree to buy a birthday card, and I FOUND BOSCO STICKS!!!!! For those of y'all who don't know, they're the best school lunch ever to be invented, and whenever we have Bosco sticks my happiness is immeasurable and my day is made. I've searched for them for years, since I was but a wee kid of six and had them for the first time, and I've found copycat brands, but never the originals! So I bought two, and went home and had one, and though I didn't have it with any marinara, it was still absolutely lovely.

And so I've had quite a nice few days, minus that sting. Right now, I should be sitting in math, but I'm the only senior in the good ol' non-AP math class, and the juniors are all off testing so I have a study hall and I thought to steal away a moment to chat with y'all. How are y'all? E-mail me to chit-chat, please! It's always really fun e-mailing. :) Anyways, I'll talk to all y'all later. Toodles!

The Week of Eating Out

Song of the day: Verivery - Our Spring

Today was basically my ideal weather! Cool, rainy (though I would've liked a bit more of a downpour) and lovely. Green and I did some volunteering with the local library, and afterwards had lunch with my mum at my favourite Chinese place! Which marked the fifth time in a week we'd eaten out, after McD's coming home from my family's last Saturday, our usual family supper at a diner, my favourite Tex-Mex place yesterday with my mother for lunch after parent-teacher conferences (I'm sorry, student-led conferences) as is our tradition, and a Mexican place I only barely remembered going to when I was a child yesterday with my father for supper (verdict: some of the waiters were really cute, but the food was too greasy for me). So I guess that makes this The Week of Eating Out, because of course it does, and not much else interesting happened this week. (Besides the whole university thing, and plus my Latin teacher's been forced at last to make our class AP again.)

Anyways, yesterday, after the very weird day I had, I ended up getting Pokemon Shining Pearl and Super Mario Maker 2, so I played those, and Minecraft, for quite a while. Although we almost didn't get Mario Maker, because the cashier was new and didn't know the drawer system---but at least in the meantime I got to play the demo for Super Mario Wonder! It's pretty cool, although I think 2D Marios should cost less than $60. And to find Pokemon Shining Pearl in the first place, we had to go to a different location than the first one whither we ventured, because it had zero copies and meanwhile another location in town had forty-six. ??? Anyways, I also got all my homework done (besides some Latin I'll do later and some French I forgot about) really quickly! So it's been a really good day today. I really love these new games!

But to be honest, I worry that I neglect this site a bit much, since most of my updates anymore are blog posts, but gaming has been taking up more of my free time and I don't really know what pages to make. I don't know. Anyways, yesterday, I was just thrown off all day. But today was much better, especially my walk in the rain, although I would take it earlier if I had to do today over. But it's been a really nice day! Toodles!

(By the way, does anyone know why the Neocities cat logo has a Guy Fawkes mask on on the neocities.org site? Please comment on my site profile or something if you do, because it's really confusing me.)

I GOT IN!!!

Song of the day: The Wind - Summer Vacation

So... something exciting happened! I don't know if you can tell by the title, but I've had a pretty exciting time since my last post. I was sitting in double Latin, not really doing much, when I logged into my on-line application account for one of my top picks of university, which I applied to early action or early admission or whatever you want to say. I saw that there was a required document: my final transcript. Now I had already submitted my transcript so far, so this got me a little confused: if I haven't been admitted, why do they want my final transcript? So I sent an e-mail off, and then forgot about it until my break, when I checked my e-mail. And I. got. IN!!!!! I did a few laps running and jumping around the student lounge, and then I did a few laps around the school BECAUSE I'M SO FRIGGING EXCITED!!!!! And it's a lovely day anyway, with great weather and all, and Pink was gone for French so my teacher and I, being the only ones present, discussed classic French literature, and my little cousin #3 told me all about her school's drama, but NOTHING MATTERS BECAUSE I GOT INTO ONE OF MY TOP CHOICES!!!!!! So yeah, I'm rambling but this is just a totally awesome day. TOODLES!

It's Tiiiiime!

Song of the day: Girls' Generation-TTS - Dear Santa

It's Christmas time! Okay, well, it's only the beginning of October, but I'm sitting here in my white fluffy sweater and my bright red jeans with earrings to match, so I feel pretty Christmasy. I feel like everyone keeps complaining whenever anyone expresses Christmas spirit or plays Christmas music before December 10th, but I couldn't give two hoots right now. I probably ought to restrain myself to start until November 1st at the least, in order to make Christmas more special and all, but at the same time I feel the winter joy in my heart and I have to let it out somehow, you know? I've already started daydreaming of Christmas!

Now, if only I could find a boyfriend before then and have a romantic sleigh ride in the snow, but at this point I've given up finding a boyfriend before college. So I guess I'll be left to yearn for at least ten or eleven more months, but if I've withstood it hitherto for years and years, I reckon I can do it a while longer. (By the way, people should use hitherto more! It's such a cromulent word!!)

Meanwhile, one of my two French classmates dropped the class, so now there's a whopping two students in AP French. Now on the one hand, I'm glad that we can have an even more relaxed dynamic and all, and the one who dropped it didn't like the class anyways, so now it's just the two of us who really like the class, and we can be more intensive since we two are both doing the AP exam but she wasn't going to. But on the other hand, as someone who cares quite a lot about the French language, it's kind of sad that there's only two people in the AP class. But then again, I don't think AP Spanish has that many more, so maybe it's an AP problem, because doing AP does totally barf tacos.

And, speaking of AP, more Latin news!! Apparently it is going to be AP after all, at the command of the principal, though I don't if this has been relayed to the teacher yet. But if this goes through, this will be out FIFTH curriculum change in just over a quarter of the school year!!!!!!! My goodness.

And finally, in other news, I went to visit my family on Saturday, and took some senior photos whilst I was there! I have a few favourites, and a few more that could use a little Photoshop to be amazing! Because the lighting was a little funky in a couple photos, but oh well. Anyways, #2 had a few ideas for my photos: in a tree, on a roof, or riding on back of a cow. At the end of the day, I acquiesced enough to take a few photos in a tree, although only a couple are good to actually use for senior photos because my cousins are climbing around the tree in most of them. But it was still really fun. :)

BEST DAY OFF EVER! (feat. iPods!!!)

Song of the day: Verivery - From Now

Today I've had the day off, and it's been a really great one! My mother and I left about 9:00 for some estate sales, although they started a good while before, because I dally. So I was a bit scared that I wouldn't get the items I had my eye on. But lo and behold, when we got into each of the sales, there they were! And so, that is how, for $42, I came home with two new iPod nanos!! One is a 2nd gen, silver, 4 gigabytes, that works fine except that it doesn't hold a charge, but I've decided to keep it on my speaker dock in my room so it'll always be plugged in nonetheless. The other is a 6th gen, silver 8 gigabyte model, which holds a charge and came with some music already on it! It had some Vince Gill, whom my mother loves, so we listened to him all the way home.

It is in good condition.a 6th gen iPod nano in silver aluminium, viewed from the front, on a wooden desk leaning against a pink mechanical keyboard, with the screen on the home screen. It is in good condition.

We also stopped by a shop to which my mum has a gift card, although she left it at home, and I meowed back and forth with the store's cat, and looked at the cute little owl cups, and then got some water because I was thirsty. Then, we picked up some retro puzzles my mum won in an auction, and had some Dairy Queen for lunch, which was really great! And in addition, one of the best parts of today was that I got to debut my favourite sweater, which I bought back in April on my grade's trip! It's lavender and white and oversized, and very 90s, and I've been waiting to wear it for the first time, so this was an addition to the weather, which would've already made me happy---cold, and rainy enough that I got to take a walk in the sprinkle! So yeah, today has been pretty great. I hope the rest of the weekend is, too!

(And of course, due to my terrible attention span, I forgot to upload this for two days. Oy.

More Latin Hullabaloo

Song of the day: Verivery - Ring Ring Ring

So, my Latin teacher changed the format of the class again. For the fourth time. We were supposed to take a quiz yesterday, but instead we complained about his teaching approach and how it's difficult since this is our last year of Latin to change our approach, and so since we're seniors (except one junior) he relented and now we're reading like a page per class period and answering questions about it. This seems to be the change that will last, but then I sad that about the last one. Besides that, today I gave a presentation in French about the different concepts/sides of Verivery! Neither of my classmates were really all that excited, and nor was my teacher, but like Pink said, "we love that you love it". (BTW, hey if you're reading this, Pink!)

Anyways, this bloody cold seems to be getting better---the night before last, I got a full night of sleep without waking up hacking my lungs out! I've been feeling better in general, which is a surprise because my colds tend to be known-down, dragged-out, two-week affairs, so the fact that it's been six days and I'm feeling decently better is pretty shocking! Anyways, I've got school off tomorrow, so my mother and I are going to hit up some estate sales and have a fun day. Toodles!

Sickness & Stress

Song of the day: The Wind - Island

I'm going to have to be pretty quick with this since it's getting late, but I had a weekend, so prepare for storytime with Lizzie! Firstly, on Friday I had an annoying encounter with two elementary school teachers (my school's a k-12). I don't know if I want to get into it, but I felt super embarrassed at the time, and a little condescended to, so afterwards, I vented about it to Blue and Pink, and mentioned it to some other classmates. Well, fast forward to the afternoon, and when I get home I receive an e-mail to me and Pink. Apparently, an elementary school teacher overheard a conversation they didn't like and we were supposed to report to the substitute principal Monday. No other details whatsoever, on a Friday afternoon, when I had vented about two teachers. Yeah, I thought I was doomed.

And Saturday I got my flu shot, at a very opportune time because I had just developed a cold the day before. I was still only sniffly, but that was solved soon enough when by the afternoon, after doing nothing but going to get some paperwork done relating to college, going to an estate sale (where I got some earrings and a few super cute tops, including the one I'm wearing as I type this!) and doing a few easy math problems (that were made somewhat difficult by my sudden sick brain) I felt like I had just taken the ACT, three AP exams and a Latin test or two for good measure, and I had to sit and watch YouTube, Gilmore Girls and the Great British Bake Off for the rest of the weekend, with this stress looming over me as well.

And you'll never guess what happened when I went into school yesterday and went into the meeting: apparently, according to the substitute principal, whatever teacher complained because Pink and I had allegedly been talking about marijuana use around kids!! I don't know if y'all know this just from reading my site, but I think the fact that the mere prospect of me using weed made my mother laugh out loud (and still does over a day later---she's started calling me her little pothead) says enough about me. And the only thing close to it we said, which it took us a while to remember, is that we said the word marijuana one time, when we were joking around in Aussie accents.

Anyways, now I'm not all the way better---the waitress at supper tonight randomly made me hot tea because I was hacking my lungs up since I had forgotten to take my cold meds---but I'm getting better. In Latin, we yet again spent a whole day, when we were supposed to have a quiz, discussing the class's format, and the new Latin teacher has now drawn some mild comparisons to last year's chem teacher---if y'all have read my last school year's blog, you know that is not flattering! We performed our scene from Antigone today in drama, which went decently well, and we had some scriptwriting fun! We get to make anti-bullying skits, because some of the freshmen are vicious bullies, even to the seniors for some reason. So yeah, that's the 411 on my life. I've got to go back to having a Victorian coughing fit---toodles!
