Song of the Day: Wonder Girls - Nobody

So I actually started my homework today! I mean, all I did was read one chapter of Catcher In The Rye, but one chapter of whiny Holden Caufield is more than enough for me. Seriously, how can one character, who's supposed to be relatable to all of us, at least according to my English teacher, be so damn annoying? And I still haven't even thought about the Human Geo. I'm going to get the lesser of the two annoyances out of the way first, though, so Holden, here I come.

Also, I managed to not mope today, though I did mope yesterday. Today, I spent pretty much all morning watching the telly and all that, and the afternoon as well. I had a sandwich for lunch, which I haven't had in a while, so it was a nice change! We were out of the baked crisps that I like to pair with my sandwiches, though, so I had to settle for Doritos. Also, I had some marshmallow Hershey's Kisses for dessert. Anyways, I also read fanfiction because that's what I do when I'm really bored, I guess.

Also, today, I pulled my old iPod touch out of my technology version of Shady Pines, aka a cabinet in my desk which also contains two of my old Windows laptops and some other stuff. Anyways, shameless plug before I continue: go check out my iPods page!

Ahem.

Anyways, it was fun to see all the old stuff on there! Particularly the strange fanfictions I read when I was like 12. (I don't mean weird like that, I just mean bizarre). Anyways, it was really interesting to see how strange of a person I was in middle school. And now I'd like to thank the Lord above and all the angels in Heaven that I'm not like that anymore.

Also, it's really been quite nice and rainy all day! It's been so lovely. And we have some sort of tree in our backyard that has little blossoms. (I think it might be a pear tree, but don't quote me on that.) Anyways, it's so pretty in the rain! I love this kind of weather. :) And the fish are doing well! All three adults, and the two baby fish. (Have I talked about them before? I don't know.) Anyways, they're not really babies anymore, I suppose. Maybe they're moody, emo adolescent fish. (Hello, my name is Goldie Glub'bers Swimming Fish-Disease Stingway. I have long golden fins (that's how I got my name) with yellow and orange highlights that reach my mid-back... I should stop now. I haven't named the fish yet... maybe I'll name one of them Goldie Glub'bers Swimming Fish-Disease Stingway and Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way.) So yeah.

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: GFRIEND - Navillera

So today was the official first day of spring holiday and I did practically nothing of use! Yeah, I know holidays are for wasting, but still. I'm going to try and waste tomorrow more productively. I want to at least be able to say that I watched a bunch of TV instead of messing about on Internet forums for half the day.

Also, my mum and I went to the fabric shop today to get fabric for a toga for my school's toga day It's a long story. But anyways, whilst my mother was getting the fabric cut at the counter, I wandered around and went to the yarn aisle. I found a nice, fluffy yarn that I want to do some French knitting with! But yeah. Also, the fabrics were each $8.99 per yard/metre/whatever this time, compared to some that were much less expensive last time. But I suppose that pretty much everything's price is going up these days, what with the you-know-what and the situation-that-shall-not-be-named. But moving past that (I want to keep this blog un-depressing), I feel like this year's toga is going to be pretty swaggy, B) (Do any of y'all remember that song Swagger Jagger? That was a weird song.)

Also, continuing on with the topic of major bummers, I got all sad this morning, the whole lonely spiel. I guess that's part of why I felt like today was partially wasted. But yeah, I moped about for a while, thinking that it'd probably be super hard to find a guy who likes me, who I like back and who shares my values. But then I realized that if there's, like, a gazillion guys out there, chances are that there are many good guys who'd like me. The song "Someday Love Will Find Its Way To You" by Reba McEntire helped, too. But yeah, I have hope now, and hope is powerful. :)

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: S.E.S. - I'm Your Girl

So the CSI class turned out well! We got our man like the Mounties (or in this case, our woman) and in our required presentation to the whole school, we walked her out and mock arrested her on stage. (We'd already "properly" arrested her earlier). Anyways, it was a raelly fun week and I'm looking forward to see what they have to offer next year!

Also, I finally bought Verivery's new single today! It's been a whopping three days and an agonizing wait at that. Anyways, I'm so excited to listen to it! I love both the songs so far! The title track is so new and different for Verivery and the b-side is a lovely ballad! I hope the title track can get even more popular when promotions start next week!

Also, I've been getting back into Magikarp Jump recently, as has my best friend. For those who don't know, it's a mobile game with Magikarp and you make them jump and train them up. I love it so much! And the microtransactions aren't required to play the game well!

Also, I went through some more books today and decided to give some old ones that I don't plan to read again to the library. I never realized just how many books I have from my childhood that I never got rid of! Anyways, I hope to clear out enough to have enough space on my shelves to house all of my books. Here's to spring cleaning that I only just realized was during the spring!

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Verivery - O

So the CSI class is still going pretty well! We're closing in on the killer (or in this case, vase thief and attacker), and we even have a board with things taped to it and string connecting them. So we're pretty much pro CSI agents by now.

And speaking of the professionals, we went to visit our city's police department this afternoon. We got some pizza at this little place a block or two away, though we didn't realize that there wasn't any inside seating, so we had to sit on the steps out front. Afterwards, we went to this vegan place. I was going to buy a smoothie, but I realized that I was a few cents short as my best friend ordered hers. She offered to loan me the extra, but I decided to see what else they had instead. I ended up getting this blueberry açai water/drink thing with some electrolytes and it tasted really good! And it was really nice and rainy outside! Though it was a bit too cool for comfort when we were eating our pizza.

And then we got to the actual purpose of our visit. A police officer gave us a little presentation about crime investigation and all, with some other detectives sitting in and offering their opinions and insight. One of the detectives looked oddly like a blonde version of Cecily Strong from Satuday Night Live, and another looked like the YouTuber Wendigoon, and also reminded me of one of Mary's boyfriend on 7th Heaven. Anyways, we also got time to ask questions, which lasted way longer than expected.

Also, an old friend and classmate's mother was one of the detectives! So she said hi to some classmates, but didn't recognize me until about ten seconds after I said hi to her. At first, she didn't know who I was, which is kind of understandable as I hadn't seen her in quite a while. When she recognized me, though, she gave me a hug and we were all "Oh my gosh, it's been so long!". I didn't realize it until my parents brought it up when I told them about that, but I don't remember her being a detective. If I remember correctly, she worked for some Web company or ISP or something instead. But I suppose she switched jobs or something. Anyways, it was nice to see her, and it was overall a rather informative visit! They bribed us with candy beforehand for some reason. Anyways, it was a pretty eventful, nice day today! The pizza was pretty darn good. :)

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Girls' Generation - Holiday

So the CSI class thingie is going well! This morning, we went to a nearby university's forensics lab and checked it out. It was nice and overcast as well, which was lovely, and I got to banter with my best friend and this other girl in the CSI class on the way. We got elevenses at Starbucks afterwards, and I got a strawberry frappucino with a double chocolate brownie. It was great! And then we worked more on the case (oh my gosh I feel so professional) this afternoon, including procesing evidence, including "blood" (red acrylic paint). So we'll see how it goes!

Also, it's been so rainy today, it's lovely! Except after dinner, when my parents and I had to run back to the cars because it was pouring buckets. But it was really pretty to watch on the way home! I love rain so much, in case you somehow didn't know, and today has been a very welcome break from the annoying sunny weather. I think I'm just the polar opposite of all those people who get depressed from rain, because I hate sunny weather. I also love winter and dislike summer, so I guess that's a double whammy on the weather weirdness for me. (ooh, alliteration!)

Also, Verivery are releasing their new song tonight! It's going to be 6PM Korean Standard Time, which means, of course, that it's going to be like 2 or 3 AM for me, and as much as I love Verivery, I ain't staying up all night to listen to their new songs, so I'll just listen in the morning. Also, everyone but Yongseung has been diagnosed with COVID in the past few days, though I believe everyone except Dongheon has finished self-isolation. Let's hope they get well soon and can promote next week!

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Big Time Rush - Worldwide

So tomorrow my school's week of fun, non-academic, themed classes begin. I chose the CSI section, as did my best friend. We're apparently going to be learning investigation techniques from law enforcement officers and then employing them in a fictional investigation of some crime taking place at the school. Overall, it sounds really cool, though I unfortunately don't have a Jessica Fletcher outfit to wear.

Also, I have some big news: I got a new bookshelf! My desk is in the living room of my house for some reason, and I always had a bookshelf next to it where I kept all my books. But I outgrew that shelf years ago, and the piles of books and other crap on top of it grew until my parents bought two shelves: one for my books, and another for their DVDs. (Their DVD shelf, which was of the same size and width as my old bookshelf, also had a large pile on it.)

Anyways, I'm finally able to fit almost all of my books that are in the living room on that shelf (as well as one attached to my desk, which is now free because I moved the books to the new shelf), plus, of course, some trinkets sitting in front of the books, including, but not limited to:

  • A large, flat rock my old science teacher gave me that I named after Aethelred the Unready, an Anglo-Saxon King of England. My best friend has a similar one from the same teacher that she named after Egbert of Wessex.
  • An apple-cinnamon-scented candle that I got from the dollar store last year. I've never burned it, but I like to open it up and take a whiff from time to time.
  • A little slip of paper I got in a Verivery album when I got it back for my birthday in May 2019. I never knew what it was, but I did the little Google Translate camera thingie and apparently, it's advertising auditions for new trainees. So I suppose that if I, despite being white as all heck, ever want to become a k-pop idol, I'll keep them in mind.
  • A medal I got a couple years ago for doing exceptionally on the National Latin Exam. It's only silver magna cum laude instead of gold, but silver goes with everything.
  • The first The Sims game, including all of the expansion packs. We found it whilst going through the DVDs. I haven't played it yet, but I want to fire up my family's old Windows XP computer sometime soon and test it out.
  • And finally, (though there's certainly many more), the last of these trinkets that I'll share with you right now are three little bobblehead-style thingies that my grandma got me when she and her sisters visited Hawaii many years back. Instead of their heads bobbling, they do the hula! There's two that look similar, one with a pink skirt and one with a yellow one, and one with a green skirt that looks rather different. If I remember correctly, when my grandma gave them to me, I named the one with the pink skirt Dolores.

Also, Verivery's MV teaser finally came out! You can see it below. I was kind of nervous after that music bank teaser got spread around on-line last week, but now I'm fully convinced that I'm going to love this song. I'm so excited!

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Apink - NoNoNo

So my first five-day school week in quite a while has officially come to an end! It was pretty stressful at times, but it was a fitting end to my school-like school for a while. We have a fun break week next week where we get to do different themed fun classes, and spring holiday is after that! I feel pretty tired, so I'm just relieved. *sigh of relief*

Also, thankfully, it's been nice, rainy and cool today, but yesterday and the other day it was way hot for spring. I mean, I know this is Missouri and all, and the weather changes every five minutes, but still. It was March! And the first day, I only realized it was hot after I got in bed, and I had to get out of bed and change into shorts, and even then I slept worse than normal.

Yesterday wasn't much better, but thankfully we had the foresight to open the windows at around 10:00 and turn on fans to cool the insides of the house down. My parents still refused to turn on the AC whatsoever, though. But thankfully, that cooled my room down pretty well. But still, I feel the impending spectre of summer. I like swimming and summer songs and not going to school and all that, but the things that ruins summer for me is the temperatures. I'm sorry, but 25 degrees Celsius is the max it should be during the daytime, and 30 C is when I start to feel miserable.

And lest I forget nighttime, where it's hard as hell to sleep because it's SO HOT! And my family wonders why I don't like living so far South. They complain about the winters in this neck of the woods, but those are really nice and cold! Anyways, I just don't like having to lay like a starfish with a gazillion fans on and no covers whatsoever in order to be anywhere near being comfy enough to sleep. Ugh.

Also, we're reading The Catcher In The Rye right now in English class, and oh boy, do I dislike this book. Holden Caufield is whiny and annoying, and these characters are just so bloody grating to my brain. Very rarely is there an assigned English book that I absolutely despise, but this one managed to squeeze its way through. Ugh. I'm gonna go read some Murder, She Wrote to serve as the reading version of eye bleach.

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Jason Aldean - Big Green Tractor

So my filling yesterday went pretty well! They gave me some laughing gas, and as soon as that kicked in, I was chatting to the moon and back, as everyone in the room kept pointing out. I remember babbling to the hygienist about the girl on Dr Phil who thought she was pregnant with Baby Jesus whilst I was getting some sort of topical gel, and not much more. I was also chatty the whole way back to school, and it took a while for the laughing gas to wear off. Overall, it went pretty well!

Also, I had the National Latin Exam this morning. I knew most of the answers, or at least I felt confident, but only time will tell how well I did. That took away half of my double French period, so we spent the rest of the time watching videos from a French YouTuber called Comme Une Française. In one, she talked about how to be polite in France, and in another, she roasted Emily In Paris for being bad and showing bad manners.

ALos, my biology test ended up being today, and today was also our taco day. (Our teacher compared amino acids and proteins to building tacos, and so he promised us tacos, and he delivered. We had a little taco bar and we got to eat tacos whilst studying and taking our tests.) I think the exam went pretty well, and the taco was delicious as heck, which compensated for the crappy chicken pot pie we had for lunch. Seriously, that stuff can't even hold a matchstick, let alone a candle, to my mother's chicken pot pie. But such is life when we eat school lunches.

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: TEMPEST - Bad News

So I guess my bio debate (and hopefully the test) are rescheduled. My teacher was gone today, so we went over the study guide with the substitute. We didn't finish, and there were some points of confusion, so hopefully we can ask our questions tomorrow. Our teacher hasn't said anything to us all day via e-mail or anything, so I assume and hope that everything's been rescheduled. Oy.

Also, I get to go back to the dentist's tomorrow for a good ol' filling. I am so excited. Sarcasm aside, it shouldn't be bad or anything, though I will get to have my jaw numbed, so it'll be all funky for a few hours. I inherited crappy teeth from my mother's family (her and her siblings all have bad teeth and eyes, whilst my grandparents have normal teeth and eyes), so I've had some fillings before. So I'm not really bothered. At least I scheduled the appointment so I'll miss some human geo, but I'd rather not have to go, you know? But oh well, c'est la vie.

Also, my Human Geo teacher is finally going to hand back our language & religion projects, which we did two months ago. I'm glad, and honestly, I'm not even that scared to see what the result will be. But I hope it's good, of course!

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Reba McEntire - Is There Life Out There

Today has been one of the best days in recent memory. My parents and I went to Applebee's for lunch, so the fish and chips I got weren't the epitome of quality, but the mozzarella sticks were pretty good! But then came the best part of the day: the afternoon!

I got a gift certificate to this bookstore downtown from my local library's winter reading, so I went to the bookstore and it was beautiful! It was so homey, and they had a loft area with nonfiction! I came away with three books:

  • The Windsor Knot by SJ Bennet (I already read it on my Kindle, but I wanted a physical version), where the Queen solves a murder in her spare time
  • The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë, because I liked Wuthering Heights and I've loved Jane Eyre both times I've read it
  • and a book called The Wintringham Mystery, which was billed as a classic British crime novel, so I felt like buying it.
  • I also got this nice bookmark with a funny dictionary of the word book, which also has a little tassel on it. I love it!

Also, my new iPod finally arrived today! The click wheel and hold switch were finnicky at first, but they quickly started working properly. It has 16GB, twice my old iPod's memory, and it's working pretty dang great! I'm so glad to have an iPod again, after having to use my phone to listen to music for almost two weeks. Also, it came with a brand new 30-pin cable (or at least I assume it was brand new) that looked straight out of Apple, and what I think are a pair of the OG iPod headphones, not the new EarPods that they replaced them with in 2012. Anyays, it's super cool!

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: S.E.S. - Dreams Come True

Hey! So the biology debate was rescheduled to Monday, and we spent yesterday's class preparing and all. Also, my English teacher raised the issue in class that apparently our grade is too mean to each other or something, at least according to her. I will admit my grade is very snarky towards each other sometimes, but I feel like there isn't very much actual animosity between us. But still, she wants us to be nicer to each other. Also, one of the guys I sit near in precalculus class this morning repeatedly insulted Jane Eyre, so that got on my nerves. But oh well, forgive and forget.

Also, progress reports came out, and mine are overall pretty good! I think my English teacher saying that I should be more positive towards others was my only negative comment. And my lowest grade is an 88.8 in precalculus, so I think I'm in good shape! And thank God! I was worried after that last quiz, but thankfully I did well on that :)

And parent-teacher conferences are tomorrow! My parents are going to drag me along for sure, but I'm sure as heck not going to "lead" the conferences. I'm just going to sit in the back and eavesdrop. Also, my iPod is set to arrive on Monday, so I'm hyped! Sorry that this blog post is pretty short, these couple of days have been pretty uneventful.

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Reba McEntire - The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia

So tomorrow I have a debate in Biology class (I know, weird, right?) about biotechnology, and of course I was one of the four people assigned to actually debate instead of just asking questions. I'd say better luck next time, but I don't think there will be another debate in my bio class. I don't like debates very much anyways, especially not in my History class that I had last year. We had three debates in that class, and none of them were particularly fun.

Also, I had some weird knee feelings this morning. I don't know how to describe it, but my kneecap felt weird. Also, my shoulderblade and my ribs on my left side feel similarly weird. It's confusing, but I don't think it's anything bad; it just feels weird, I suppose, for the sake of feeling weird.

Also, there's going to be even more snow in my area Thursday and Friday! But sadly, I won't be getting a snow day Friday because I already have Friday off for parent-teacher conferences. Speaking of, my school is encouraging "student-led parent-teacher conferences" this year. I think I already wrote about them in a prior post, but they seriously don't make sense! I'll probably be tagging along, as my parents normally make me, but I absolutely do not want to participate.

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Kim Jo Hong - You Are My Girl

My iPod still hasn't recovered, so I ordered a new one. I don't know when it's supposed to arrive, but I assume it'll get here soon. It's 16 gigabytes, as opposed to my current one, which is 8GB. It also has a new battery, and I believe a new screen, though don't quote me on that latter bit. Also, as it turns out, by coincidence, it's from the same seller that sold me my current one! So I'm just waiting patiently for that to arrive.

Also, I've been watching The Autobiography of Jane Eyre some more, and it's so amazing! It depicts the rollercoaster that is the book in such an amazing way, and the emotions throughout are so strong. I definitely recommend it to everybody! You can access the playlist on YouTube here. Honestly, despite the face that it's much lower-budget than The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, that honestly makes it seem so much more raw and real. I love both of these series so much!

Also, tonight, I took my first nap in ages. I was at my grandparents' for a family gathering, and I just lay over on the couch on some pillows because I had a stomachache after a large dinner, and I fell asleep for forty-five minutes or so, maybe an hour. But yeah, I took a nice nap! Also, my grandpa gave us some doughnut holes like usual, this amazing brand. Love them!

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: Jessica Jung - DAYDREAM

Alas, my iPod is still not working, even after I tried what I did last time and let the battery discharge for over a day. But alas, even though, as best I could tell, the battery drained completely and I even let it sit for a while after that, it didn't work. I'm very much afraid that this may be the end for this iPod, but I'm holding out hope. :(

Also, yesterday, my mum and I went to the local thrift shop. Normally they close really close to when I get out of school, so if we want to see anything, we need to book it. Anyways, we got a couple of shirts, including one that I really really love, but it was kind of disappointing. One, because they didn't have the Jessica Fletcher trenchcoats up anymore, and I really wanted one last time I went to the thrift shop a week or two ago. Also, I found some really lovely clothes (because, y'know, femboy), including this gold glittery top (maybe it was a cardigan? or maybe a blouse, idk) but they were apparently too small for me. :( Better luck next time, hopefully!

Also, I thought that today, being a day off and all, would be more fun, but I basically sat around watching TV all day and reading a bit. I think part of it is because my iPod is having issues, so I couldn't listen to music other than at my computer, when I love listening to my iPod. I mean, I could technically use my iPhone, since I sync the same music to it, but it needs a dongle and it's just generally not the same, you know?

But still, I really hope I don't have to get a new iPod since this is my first proper iPod and is irreplaceable by another iPod in my heart. But life is life, and there are bigger things in life than iPods, so I'll just go with the flow, like a river. (Woah, that last bit sounds deep. I feel like that's some sort of ancient wisdom that's been passed down through generations of people or something like that, you know?) But anyways!! Yeah, I hope this all turns out well, or at least as well as possible.

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!

Song of the Day: The Chordettes - Mr Sandman

So the big news of the past couple days is: (drumroll please) my iPod is on the fritz! It's showing a plain white screen, and though it's responsive, I can't exactly see what I'm doing, which makes it kind of pointless or a fancy iPod shuffle, depending on your perspective. But anyways, I decided that the first course of action was to put it into recovery mode and restore it, but my computer refused to downlaod the recovery software. After that, I tried to do a factory restore, but my computer wouldn't do it, so I rebooted my computer and then did a factory restore. Which, of course, didn't work. :/

And so I e-mailed a local Apple repair shop that I've been to before when I had problems with my old iPod touch. That time, they basically told me a factory restore would fix the touch and didn't even charge, so they're in my good books. But they said it'd be about $90, because they'd have to ship it off to Apple's depot or something. Which leaves two courses of action.

The first is what happened the other time this happened. I forget if I mentioned that, but oh well. Anyways, I let it run out of battery and sit for a while, and it fixed itself, so I'll try that. But if that doesn't work, then I'm going to have to get a new one. Which shouldn't be as big of a deal as it is to me, because this iPod was my first proper iPod (not counting touches) and so far, my only, and I'm pretty attached to it. So I hope it fixes itself, because I want this iPod to last for quite a while.

Also, I had a precalculus test, which I'm hoping went well. At no point during the test did I feel an overwhelming sense of imminent, doom, so I suppose that that's a good sign. But also, my school's principal (new this year) is encouraging "student-led parent-teacher conferences". But isn't the point of those conferences that the parents and teachers lead them? I don't know. But oh well. I'm going to try to stay out of them as much as I can, but I think that my parents are probably going to make me participate anyways. Ugh.

Also, our pea plants for biology class seem to be in a sticky (dry?) situation, because of the buttload of snow days where we couldn't water them. Who woulda thunk that six days without water isn't exactly the best for plants? Also, we planted them in red solo cups without holes in the bottom. So yeah, we're going to replant them soon. I want to plant mine in a proper pot this time, and water them as much as possible. Let's hope these ones prosper!

Anyways, that's about all I have to talk about at the moment, so I'll talk to y'all next time. Bye!
