Hey, I'm Lizzie! Here's the 411 on me: I love writing and making Web stuff. Contrary to the name of my site, I was in fact not born in 1998. I'm still in high school, so if I were born in 1998, then that'd be kind of concerning.
I made this Web site because I'm a huge fan of the late 90s/early 2000s Internet, and its aesthetic. I had an older personal website, but I created this neocities site in early 2020, though it was pretty much dormant until early 2021 when I started actively building this site. My horrid old site is here. :( To learn more about my adventure on the Web, click here.
In terms of music, I'm a big fan of artists who were popular in the mid-late 80s through the early 2000s, like Debbie Gibson, the Backstreet Boys, Westlife, and Lorie Pester (she's French), as well as a lot of k-pop, like Verivery, Girls' Generation, GFRIEND, Wonho, and more recently, Super Junior, S.E.S., DIA, Laboum, BoA, the Wonder Girls and Lightsum. There are also a couple of wild cards, like Britt Nicole, Jordan Sweeto and Reba McEntire. Yeah, my musical taste is more all-over-the-place than a game of Battleship.
Other than that, like I said on my homepage and above, I'm super interested in the Web 1.0 days, and even though I wasn't using the Web back then (because I wasn't yet alive), I still miss the sense of novelty and huge-ness that the Web had back then, as well as the pre-commercial Web, both of which I'm sure a lot of other people on Neocities also miss. I also love the simpler, cozier aesthetic of the late 90s and early 2000s Web, which inspired my design for this site.
I'm also a fan of iPods and I want to start collecting them someday. Right now, all I have is a 5th gen touch (which I've retired) and a 5th gen nano, the latter of which is my main iPod, but I want to buy a 7th gen nano and a 7th gen classic soon.
In terms of TV, my favourite shows are The Nanny, Designing Women, The Golden Girls, Step by Step, The Facts of Life, Murder She Wrote, Reba and a couple of others that I watch occasionally. Also, 7th Heaven is kind of my guilty pleasure show, or at this point, my not-so-guilty pleasure show. My two favourite films of all time are Clue and Meet Me In St. Louis, and I also like pretty much everything Pixar puts out (though who doesn't?) and some other films.
When it comes to gaming, I mostly like Nintendo platforms. I have a Wii, Wii U, and a Switch Lite. I really love the Pokemon and Splatoon series, and Mario platformers in general (Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D World and New Super Mario Bros U have been some of my favourites!). I absolutely loved Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, and I also want to play more RPGs, like Paper Mario: The Origami King (which I recently started playing), amongst others. I also like Minecraft and I've played my fair share of Terraria and Minecraft in my day. I also have a soft spot for Flash games!
When it comes to books, my tastes are a bit all over the place. I love amateur sleuths, especially Miss Marple, Jessica Fletcher, and co. I'm also a fan of gay historical romances in theory, but I've only found a few that are unsordid enough for my tastes. (My favourite gay historical romance series, which also involves plenty of amateur sleuthing, is Cambridge Fellows by Charlie Cochrane. Seriously, read them!) Additionally, I find certain (but not all) biographies interesting. I think I'm more inclined to like a biography if it's of somebody I look up to. Additionally, I'm a sucker for a lot of the great British classics, like Jane Eyre (my favourite book of all time), amongst others. However, I have precisely zero interest in Charles Dickens. Seriously, Mr. Paid-by-the-word could've been a little more concise.
Anyways, that's a little (read: a hell of a lot) about me. Make sure to click around the rest of my Web site using the hyper-links on the left!
